It can be operated safely with mains or generator and can be used as battery charge and supply dc power source.

Advantage: High quality DC output signal. Ripple value is below 0.5%. It is easy to carry because of its small size and light structure.

Disadvantage: Isolated transformer type can be easily malfunctioned due to its more sensitive structure than thyristor controlled rectifiers and it is more difficult to repair the fault due to its complex structure.
